This fun project can be made in a few hours with my video tutorial to guide you. You will need a sewing machine, 1 and three quarters to two yards fabric, Beanbag pellets, a 19” zipper, upholstery thread, sewing pins, ruler, trammel point or other tools for creating a circle.
The fabric in this video is from our Katja Ollendorff Collection. The pink and orange upholstery fabric is Margarita in the color Orange Backdrop and the blue upholstery fabric is Scandi in the color – Kalmar.
Step 1 (both round or square pouf) – Sew the zipper between the two bottom half pieces using a ½” seam allowance
Step 2 – Top stitch one side next to zipper teeth
Step 3 – fold the second side creating a flap to cover zipper and topstitch this next to zipper teeth as well.
Step 4 (Round Pouf Only) – Draw a 17” Circle on your top and bottom fabric pieces
Step 5 (Round Pouf Only) – Sew Cording onto the top and bottom pieces following the drawn Circle lines
Step 6 (Round Pouf Only) – Once cording is sewn on you can now cut out your circle shape
Step 7 – Square and Round pouf – Now sew the sides to your to your top piece ( for the square pouf you will
need to sew the two 37” pieces together at one end) joining the edges before completing the perimeter.
Step 8 – You can now sew the bottom of your pouf on to complete your project.
And there you have it! A step-by-step guide for creating your very own pouf ottoman! Sit back, put your feet up on your new custom and unique pouf, and enjoy the end-result!
