This mid-weight Irish Linen is an ideal material for oil painting, though as it is unprimed, would still need to be primed with Gesso. LLinen canvas offers a very smooth yet stiff painting surface. It has long been known for its proven longevity. Both very strong and durable, linen canvas will certainly better endure a heavy painting hand and it doesn’t become slack while being used or overtime as easily as cotton canvas. Most artists consider linen canvas a more worthwhile investment over its cotton counterpart even though it is more expensive.
