 1). Pour painting

Acrylic pour painting is a form and technique of painting where the acrylic paint is mixed with some type of pouring medium and then poured onto a surface n(such as canvas) . Colors can be combined into one cup with layers of paint, or they can be poured from single/ individual holding container cups. Silicone spray is typically what is used when pouring as it acts as a pouring medium. This additive is used to create a thinner, consistent flowing acrylic paint and is an essential ingredient in creating fluid artwork as it really helps to increase the paint flow and reduce the viscosity of heavier paints while also allowing the paint to maintain the color, texture and the opacity of the artwork itself.

2). Paper punch canvas

A very popular craft hobby is punch craft. There is a wide range of punches that are available and include flowers and petals, animals, geometrical and abstract shapes etc… Simply use your paper punch and punch out the images of interest, and then using a Beacon 3 in 1 glue, affix and position the images on the canvas to complete your theme-inspired design.

3). Stenciled art

Simply set up the canvas you want to print on, either in a vertical or horizontal orientation. Choose your stencil from many different themes and styles, sizes. Squeeze some of your acrylic paint onto a plate or palette, and using your stencil brush, dab the brush over the large blank canvas inside the stencil. Continue this process until you have covered your desired stenciling area on the canvas. Allow each of the stenciled art to dry completely and then remove the stencils carefully when done. 5). Vinyl transfers to canvas

There are several different ways to place your vinyls on your canvas. You can use a sticky adhesive vinyl, or a Heat Transfer (HTV) vinyl. They both have benefits, but one caveat would be that if you are using an adhesive vinyl, ensure that you properly prepare your large canvas with a white paint coating, jesso, or even just used a pre-primed canvas option. The vinyl adhesive is challenging to place if the canvas has not been prepared and is left in its raw and natural state. HTV is a more forgiving and easier methodology as the vinyl transfers to the canvas fabric material with heat. The heat transfer vinyl is actually melted into the canvas and thus, adheres significantly better. When using an HTV, you will need an iron, and will need to press firmly on the vinyl for 30 seconds for the heat transfer to occur. After this has been ironed, the film sheet will peel off easily. 6). Linear art with framers tape

This is a super easy DIY project utilizing your favorite acrylic paints and framers tape. Simply place your framers tape across your chosen canvas, creating any linear scape that you can imagine, and then simply paint the spaces in such a way that you can have one mono-chromatic color, and/ or many different colors to achieve whatever desired effect that you wish. After painting, simply allow for enough time to dry and then gently (emphasis on gently!) pull the tape off and away from the canvas to expose the white (or natural) underlining base – and which will provide the color differentiation against and from the chosen paints. You could even paint the underlying base a different color (such as a metallic tone) for an increased “Pop!” and to really show off your design style.

7). Drip Art for the inner child in you

This style of DIY art on your selected large blank canvas is probably the simplest of all of these different styles and projects. It is rather self-explanatory, but all you need to do is to select your favorite acrylic colors (perhaps consider a specific color pallet) and then just hold them up and over your large canvas. Allow them to drip to form whatever pattern and design you would like. One caveat for this project is to ensure that you have a catch basin or floor protecting tarp underneath and so as to keep your paint from doing any harm to the flooring or environment. This was is fun and super easy; simply choose your favorite color and then add white or black to this color to create a differing range of the same base color across your canvas. This is an interesting DIY canvas craft, and will certainly be an interesting exercise in playing with the many tones that you can create from your favorite color. Many that try this prefer to use vertical lines across their large canvas, starting with the darker tone on the left and working towards the right edge, with the far right edge being the lightest tone of this base color (and which would have the most white added in, mixed thoroughly).

9). Gold glitter and lighting backdrop

This is another very fun DIY craft project on your large blank canvas. Adding gold glitter and then backlighting your canvas with lights will ensure a festive visual focal point to any room, and also provide a nice touch of elegance and sophistication. You can use a pre-primed artist canvas, and then paint white. Cast the gold glitter as you see fit. Some craters have used a Modge Podge. Ensure that you shake off into garbage after applying this.

10). Canvas Wall organizer with pockets

This DIY craft may need to be reserved for a sewist that has some experience with slitting and sewing. What can be achieved with proper planning and cutting exact measurements to create your organizing pockets, however, will benefit you and your family for years to come. Simply measure the wall space and cut your large blank canvas to spec. You may want to use a surger around the perimeter to ensure that your cut canvas panel does not fray. Then simply define the rows of pockets and what size you want them. Cut your remaining canvas fabric material to spec and sew them on!
